POST REHABilitation DISCHARGE
MedXFitHouston’s Post-Rehab programs are designed for those individuals who are recovering from a variety of musculoskeletal disorders.
OUR PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE CLIENTS RECOVERING FROM ANY PHYSICAL INJURY OR DISEASE AN OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE RECOVERY AND MAINTAIN PHYSIOLOGICAL AND FUNCTIONAL STATUS IN A SAFE, PROFESSIONAL SETTING.
There are many reasons why a person ended up in rehabilitation.
Maybe, you’ve had a stroke or a fall.
After you went to the hospital, your insurance company offered you a stay at a skilled nursing facility or inpatient rehab center.
Then you were discharged to go home on your own or to complete home health. Now what? Many people can go on living healthy and robust lives.
But now and again, you may need some more specialized attention. This is where a post-rehab program can be helpful.
We have certified and academically trained exercise staff who are well versed in all orthopedic, medical conditions, and special group physical rehabilitative needs.
The role of our exercise specialists is to provide a basic functional assessment and a progressive conditioning program (including strength, flexibility, functional and cardiovascular training) specific to the individual needs and goals.
Post rehabilitation program prevents regression and allows you to continue towards higher individual goals.

POST REHAB Is Not PHYSICAL THERAPY
Medical exercise and post-rehab services are growing in usage and acceptance. Physicians are referring more to clients to post-rehab programs.
Sometimes these clients mistake post-rehab services for physical therapy. When you look at the layout and equipment in a post-rehab studio, it may look very similar to a physical therapy clinic.
As you can see this mistake is easily made and common.
Post-rehab professionals (PRP’s) must emphasize the distinctions between post-rehab services and physical therapy.
The post-rehab distinctions include:
- Exercise is the key modality in a post-rehab setting.
- Function is the focus of post-rehab programming.
- Post-rehab services are cost-effective compared to Physical Therapy.
- Post-rehab services are only for medically stable clients.
Is It Worth it?
I’ll do it on my own!
Chronic illnesses such as the residual effects after a stroke don’t just get better on their own. It takes specific targeted activities to address these needs.
Sometimes after having been in the health care settings, we feel like we just want to get back to normal. No more therapist or nurses, just you and your loved ones.
But, is your body ready?
If you need a professional service to continue to help with exercise and education, then MedXFit Houston may be for you.
How's the Process?
- We obtain a thorough medical history from you including a questionnaire, reviewing applicable medical records, and personal history.
- We then cultivate a strategic exercise plan and strategy including duration, type, and modifications.
- We give home exercises to support your customized strategic plan.
- You PROGRESS!
Just a few examples are Jesma climbing stairs for the first time in over 20 years! She climbed over 18 stories simply because she could after she had regained strength and control in her leg.
Or Jean walking over 800 feet after over a year being stuck in her wheelchair after a nasty fall. Then being able to go out to meals with her family for the first time in months.
Then there’s how we helped Jennifer find out she had a rare cardiac disease.

Here's a letter from one of our clients John Herrin
I am a 76-year old man who strives to stay active, however, over the last year I have endured a lengthy hospital stay and several minor surgical procedures.
Almost 60 years ago I broke the Scapula in my right shoulder. In August 2014 I injured that shoulder again and the pain felt as if I had once again broken it, but I hadn’t.
After leaving the hospital I was so weak that I could not get up off the floor and was afraid of what may happen if I was to fall. I was confronted with two challenges: To stop the pain in my shoulder and regain my strength.
Fortunately I met Fetus Amoye.
Festus examined the current x-ray and CT scan of my shoulder. He also searched and found my college x-ray and compared the status of my shoulder before and after the recent injury.
He devised and coached me with six specific exercises to correct the problem in my shoulder. In three weeks I was able to stop the pain medication.
It felt as if I had experienced a miracle because doctors had predicted that I would likely be on pain medication for the rest of my life and one Physical Therapist suggested to my wife that she place me in a long-term care facility.
After repairing my shoulder, Festus has worked to assist me in regaining my strength despite the challenges of working around multiple surgeries, which required virtually stopping any conditioning during recovery.
We have successfully rebuilt my core strength and as recovery periods have expired, I have been able to quickly regain strength with Festus’ kind, but insistent guidance.
Festus does not practice medicine. However, his medical training in the Army combined with his Occupational Therapy education, has entrenched in him a determination to explore resources, apply principles, and tailor the client’s regimen to his or her specific needs to achieve his client’s goals.
Festus’ has demonstrated the ability to the shift the focus of our sessions from a rehabilitative approach to a therapeutic wellness training program as I progressed towards my goals.
It is my impression that rather than having one canned program for every client – Festus comes with a routine he frequently modifies to meet my current status.
For Festus, one routine does not fit all his clients.
I believe this ‘can do’ attitude combined with his rehabilitation knowledge, offers potential clients a more direct path to achieving their goals whether those goals are general or specific due to injury or other trauma.
Festus has assisted me mostly three days a week for almost a year. I am very appreciative of his excellent service.
I think we all understand that there are some conditions that exercise alone will not cure, but based on my experience, you should understand why I believe Festus pushes the boundaries that an intelligently conceived exercise routine combined with a client’s determination can achieve.
I would recommend that you try his service.
